Spurs Kill OKC… for real?

Ok – so it has taken me this long to finish watching Spurs vs. OKC.

Despite the crazy run that Westbrook has been on (something like 6 triple doubles – or something – in a row?), I can’t believe that the Spurs have slammed them 130–91.

Looks like the Spurs, with the great Pop leadership – have just hit their stride as the playoffs are just around the corner.

Great Night Out – Katie Noonan and Peace is my Drug in Ipswich

Tonight my wife, bandmates and other friends went up the road to hear Katie Noonan and her band, The Captains perform music off their up-coming album, Peace is my Drug.

It was super-refreshing to hear beautiful, eclectic music being performed in an honest and authentic way – to an appreciative audience.

Katie’s songwriting was interesting (in the best kind of way), breaking way from traditional forms and melodic structures, taking us on a journey into an etherial musical encounter.

I was a little concerned, at the start of the set, as I noticed the lack of a (traditional) bass (double or electric), but I did not at all miss the instrument throughout the performance thanks to keyboard (playing the bass part) of Stu Hunter, split to a bass (Ampeg) cabinet and guitar amp (VOX AC30, I think).

I loved the guitar playing (Ben Edgar) which really made me miss the pop-effect-style-interesting-chord playing [0] and melodic drumming (Declan Kelly). All contributed to an ensemble that was tight, sonically balanced and emotionally moving.

Katie (and the Captains), thanks for re-inspiring this tired (not so old) dude.

A new place for my stuff…

I thought to myself,

It’s about time that I actually started writing some of the ideas that I’ve been having about stuff…

…And I am not suggesting that I have not tried this up to this point in time.

I have, over the last several years learned a lot about web-publishing, using blog sites and markdown syntax – and have incorporated it comprehensively into my every day teaching workflow[^For example, I keep all of my resources and lesson content on a WP site, with the basic text living in Srivener files, synced to plain txt documents… anyhow, it has been working great…more on that later.]. The main obstacle to my own site, has been the use of a static-web environment, that meant that every time I wanted to update, add, or modify content, I would need to: open the project file, make the change, publish, connect to the server…etc.. So, it was just easier to not do that.

Today I made this instance of WP, and will (hopefully by the weekend), have it looking ‘right’, and with the intention of replacing my ‘static’ site.

Let’s see how I go.
